The Frog's History
The Pickled Frog was created in 2000 by Rod, Alexandra, Wendy and Max. They wanted to create a traveller’s haven that oozed all the bits and pieces that make travelling personal, comfortable and memorable.
A year later, Wendy & Max became the landlords and Rod and Alex took over the business.
They ran the business until 2005 when they sold up to build a house, travel and spend more time with the kids. Predictably though, they missed The Frog and have returned in 2009 to turn the place on its head and back into its former glory as the premier backpackers' hostel in Tasmania.
As of July 2011 Jimmy and Emma decided that after 2 years of working behind reception they were ready to take the plunge and formed a partnership with Rod, as well as taking over management of The Frog.
Since then Jimmy and Em have thrown themselves into things; adding a "chill corner" (complete with hammock), nightly Mulled Wine over winter, Tassie roasted organic coffee and the latest addition to our staff team "Baloo" (our Alaskan Malamute puppy! )– while still keeping everything about the Pickled Frog that they have always loved.
