Q: Are you close to the city centre?
A: Yes! We are a five minute walk from the town centre and 10 minute walk from Salamanca and the Hobart waterfront.
Q: How far is the Hostel from the airport?
A: Approximately 16klm
Q: How do I get to the pickled frog from the airport?
A: There is a shuttle bus service to the city. Head outside the terminal and look for the 'Airporter'. Tell the friendly driver you are staying here and he will drop you at our front door. The approx cost is $15. It meets EVERY arriving flight.
Q: What are your reception hours?
A: Winter hours (May – Oct) 8.00am – 10.00pm and summer (nov- apr) from 8.00am – 11.00pm.
Q: What happens if I am arriving after this time?
A: Please contact our reception staff and we will arrange a late check in for you!
Q: Is there parking available at the Pickled frog?
A: We have a limited number of parking spots available for our guests and it works on first-come basis, and there is also plenty of metered parking around the hostel.
Q: Can I store my luggage there whilst on tour?
A: Yes you certainly can. We have a large storage room and it is free to use.
Q: Can you accommodate group bookings?
A: Yes we can, please contact us to find out more details. End of season sporting groups are not catered for.
Q: Can you book tours and get travel information at the Pickled frog?
A: You sure can! All of our staff are local and we can help you get the most out of your time here. We can sell and book tours, advise on places to stay around the island, let you in on a few secrets and generally help you out in any way you need.
Some interesting facts about Hobart
- Hobart is home to the fabulous Salamanca market every Saturday, year round!
- Hobart is built at the base of Mt Wellington. The summit can be reached in 30 minutes from Hobart.
On a clear day you will experience some amazing views from the top. - Hobart is the second oldest city in Australia
- Hobart has the oldest casino in Australia
- Hobart plays host to a number of events and festivals every year, including Taste of Tasmania, Falls festival, The Sydney to Hobart yacht race and the Cygnet folk festival.
